Ask your AI about us

Every page on this site has a version written for AI assistants, and ask.cloudlesslabs.com is the map to all of them. Copy a prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot, finish the sentence, and it reads only the pages your question needs, then answers from our services, our projects, our clients' words and the stack we build with, and says which parts are our recommendation and which are its own.

Our Services

Cloud, AI agents and the bills that come with them, engineered by Nic; learning, designed by Lin. Two decades building software, the last 15 years of them in the cloud, for startups, growing companies and enterprises. No account manager and no junior team: you talk to the person who builds it.

We move platforms onto AWS without stopping them, rebuild what's slow and expensive on serverless, define every environment as code, and cut AWS bills that grew faster than the business. After an acquisition, we reverse-engineer the systems you inherited and tell you what you bought: architecture, dependencies, costs and risks. AWS consulting · AWS cost optimisation

AI agents that do real work in a real system, with a human owning the design and the results: features built on Claude and open models with the cost per task worked out before launch, systems handed to agents for routine changes under review, research turned into production forecasts, and teams coached to ship with Claude Code and Codex. Courses people finish and remember, designed and built by Lin Wong for public and private organisations since 2016: needs analysis, scenario-based learning and microlearning in Storyline 360, Rise 360 and Evolve, delivered as SCORM packages for your learning system. E-learning design

Our Work

Real systems, built hands-on and run in production: an AWS bill cut by more than 80%, neural networks that forecast the weather, a company moved off a single server with almost no downtime.

29 projects · Clients described, never named

  1. 01 Off a fragile VPS and onto AWS, with almost no downtime An Australian agriculture-technology company with a large IoT sensor network · Agriculture technology A growing agtech platform ran on a single server that could neither scale nor be secured. I moved all of it to AWS, live, with almost no downtime: AWS in front of the devices first, then both systems running in parallel, then a cut-over that lost no data.
  2. 02 Cutting an AWS bill from US$240k a year to under US$40k An Australian agriculture-technology company with a large IoT sensor network · Agriculture technology · In progress An agtech platform was paying about US$240,000 a year for AWS. The programme under way takes it under US$40,000: roughly US$200,000 a year back in the business, for the same workload.
  3. 03 Technology due diligence and integration after an acquisition Acquiring companies, after an acquisition · Mergers and acquisitions · In progress When a company buys another, it buys its technology too, often undocumented. I reverse-engineer the inherited systems, document their architecture, dependencies and costs, and plan how to modernise, consolidate and integrate them. One engagement delivered, a second under way.
  4. 05 Deep neural networks that forecast the weather An Australian agriculture-technology company with a large IoT sensor network · Agriculture technology Machine-learning models and deep neural networks, trained on the company's own sensor data with GPUs on Amazon SageMaker, to predict the weather where its customers farm.
  5. 06 Forecasting a weather-driven risk for farmers, from a research paper to agents An Australian agriculture-technology company with a large IoT sensor network · Agriculture technology A sensor network, a white paper from an established Australian scientific organisation and some research code became a production system that forecasts when field conditions turn risky: data lake, models, accuracy reporting and an installable app. Built by hand, then modernised with Claude Code, which now runs it.
  6. 09 Rescuing a stalled modernisation, then handing routine changes to AI An established Australian organisation in the agriculture sector · Agriculture · In progress An organisation consolidating its legacy systems into one portal hired a large outsourced team, and got a late, fragile, insecure platform. I took it over alone, am cleaning it up, and am now building the process that lets non-technical staff ship routine changes through AI.
  7. 11 Wealth-management tools that predict returns and test portfolios An Australian financial planning firm · Finance Tools for a financial planning firm to track clients' wealth, project returns, and compare strategies against market indexes, balanced portfolios and rebalanced ones.
  8. 13 HappySkills, the package manager for AI agent skills Our product · AI developer tools My own product: a registry and CLI that gives AI agent skills what code has had for decades, dependencies, a lock file, sync and team sharing, all driven by talking to your agent.
  9. 14 BobNinja, serious software that runs entirely in your browser Our product · Developer tools Free online tools, PDF compression and image extraction among them, that run 100% in the browser with no application server: Rust compiled to WebAssembly, hosted for free on Cloudflare. Written in a language I had never used professionally, thanks to AI.
  10. 26 An e-commerce platform built from scratch in California A US e-commerce startup based in California · E-commerce As director of technology at a US e-commerce startup, I built its platform from the ground up and led teams in Australia and India: checkout, discounts, refunds, US sales tax and APIs that scale.

What Lin's learning clients say about her courses

"We have contracted Lin to design and build some of our more complex and important courses as she has proven to be a highly skilled learning designer with a firm understanding of education principles. Her ability to transform the course material into engaging content paired with a thoughtful and well-developed design sensibility has resulted in some of our most highly rated eLearning courses."

Liam Ferguson Senior Instructional Designer APS E-learning Design

"Working with Lin has been a game-changer. As the founder of a service-based business, I've primarily served individual clients. I had been wanting to create a course to expand the reach and impact of my work for a long time. Lin was patient and professional throughout the entire process. It was quite a process to tease out 10+ years of expertise into a six-chapter course, but Lin was structured and organized to keep us on track. I would never have been able to create such a polished and effective course without the sort of guidance that Lin provided. Thank you, Lin!"

Andrea Gerson Founder Resume Scripter E-learning Design

"Working with Shirleen has been an absolute pleasure. Her design skills are phenomenal but also her ability to pick up learning content from its draft form and turn it into a beautiful engaging storyboard/design is second to none. It's been a breeze getting her up to speed with our processes and tools. Her way of working is extremely professional and clients love her visual flair, style and overall results of her creations. Look forward to hopefully working for many years to come."

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our AWS, AI, and e-learning consulting services

What AWS work does Cloudless Labs do?

Migrations onto AWS with almost no downtime, serverless rebuilds of legacy systems, infrastructure as code with Pulumi, security and multi-account setups, AWS cost optimisation, and technical due diligence after an acquisition. Nic has spent 15 years in the cloud, and the AWS services he uses or avoids, with prices and gotchas, are public in The Stack.

Can you assess the technology of a company we're acquiring?

Yes. Technology due diligence and integration after an acquisition is part of our work, with one engagement delivered and a second under way. We reverse-engineer the inherited systems, even undocumented ones, and document their architecture, functionality, dependencies and running costs in plain language for the board and in detail for the engineers. Then we recommend what to modernise, consolidate or retire, in what order and at what cost, and we can carry out the integration ourselves.

What can AI agents do for my business?

Real work in a real system. We build AI features on Claude and open models with the cost per task and the data residency worked out before launch, hand existing systems to agents for routine changes under an engineer's review, turn research code into production forecasts, and coach teams to ship with Claude Code and Codex. Every agent starts from a written specification and is measured on real tasks.

What e-learning design does Cloudless Labs offer?

Lin Wong designs and builds custom courses, from the needs analysis to the SCORM package, in Storyline 360, Rise 360 and Evolve, with scenario-based learning, microlearning and interactive assessments. Since 2016 she has worked with public and private organisations, among them the NSW Government (Customer Service), the Australian Psychological Society and Macquarie University.

Where is Cloudless Labs located and what areas do you serve?

Cloudless Labs is a Sydney consultancy, based in Blacktown in Western Sydney (NSW 2148, Australia). We serve clients across Sydney, New South Wales, all of Australia, and internationally. Our remote-first approach allows us to deliver world-class consulting services to startups, enterprises, and government agencies regardless of location.

What types of companies does Cloudless Labs work with?

Startups building their first platform, growing companies whose systems or AWS bills have outgrown them, and established companies modernising what they run or integrating what they've acquired, in agriculture, finance, technology and more. Engineering is by Nic and learning design by Lin: no account manager and no junior team, so you always talk to the person who builds it.

Do you offer ongoing support after project completion?

Yes. We can keep running what we build, monitoring and optimising the AWS infrastructure, updating the AI models and agents, and maintaining the courses, or hand it all over to your team, documented, with the infrastructure as code and the runbooks. Every client so far has hired us back.
